All the 175’s under a contract with an end date. All owning an aircraft does is get a regional a 10 year contract versus a 5 year contract.
As I understand what the United pilots are asking, they want management to allow the 175 CPA’s to just expire and bringing that flying to mainline pilots. All the existing 175’s would have to be updated anyway to put in more seats the union proposes. And, United would probably want to replace them with E2 models anyway. That means anyone who owns the 170/175’s will have to find a new major to fly their aircraft for.
So, there wouldn’t be any double dipping.
