IMHO we are not understaffed there more than any other Base. Plus the North Runway will be closed for almost half of the year and scheduled flights are planned to be cut by about 20-25%.
Maybe trying to save money with less transfers, since it’s not a 190 Base?
My guess is the additional "Red Line of Death" flying in JFK (although BOS saw aome of that as well). Either that or the bean counters think we have too many hotel stays in FLL. Whatever it is it isn't substantial growth. Or a plan.
