I live local so I'm driving. I was told no backpack or flight kit. I feel like i should have at least something and not walk in with all my books. Google or Amazon "expandable briefcase". They are soft sided and usually made of ballistic nylon, or leather, if you want to splurge. And they'll fit everything.
Every department store luggage section carries these. I know because I recently bought one to use as a flight bag.
