Training issues don't necessarily make one a bad investment either. There are explanations that vary by the circumstances and what was learned. A clean record doesn't get you hired. In fact, it appears sometimes to be the opposite! I know several who have bent metal at a regional now happily flying at mainline.
Damn, that's surprising. I always thought it was a career ender.
I actually had a dream/nightmare the other night that I was taxiing a large RJ through some kind of tunnel system that was very narrow. The wings only had about a foot of clearance on each side and it had tight turns and I scraped a wing in a turn and said to the FO, "That's it. I'm getting fired and my career is over." lol
