I was recently told on a trip with someone who just did RGS that SC came and said now they want us to use leave vs sick as much as possible, so this is a shift coming from on high, BL or BB.
The examples in the memo we got reflect this new push, but obviously there are situations (outside of broken bones, cancer, and family members with cancer) that won’t pass muster with leave or FMLA, imho.

How does leave, in lieu of sick, benefit them? It doesn't. But enforcing an attendance policy like this (making you jump through more hoops) deters sick time usage which saves them money. Standard regional airline MO, that's all.
