That said, I'd leave for Delta in a flash, except I'm getting too old and I'm VERY COMFY, let's call it complacent, where I'm at.
Yep. I think a lot of us feel that way. Those competitive to leave are comfortable and many cannot for lack of a four year. Lets just quit with the “I’m here for
fake qol”, “I’m here for the culture”, “It’s better than my regional”, and whatever BS justifications we give our extended family and neighbors on why we are here.
Fine to keep telling them that but let’s not lie to ourselves. We are either here because we senior enough to not want to start over, we are lazy, or we aren’t competitive to leave. It’s not because spirit offeres something better than a legacy airline. The rationalization is why we got the contract we got instead of the one we should’ve gotten. I don’t care why anyone stays or leaves as long we stop accepting that we should get less because it’s spirit or we can’t or are too lazy to go elsewhere. The company capitalized on that defeatist attitude and will again when we are once again 50% behind everyone else seven years from now and some mediator tells us the raises we are asking for are huge. It’s huge because we are never closing the gap because of the rationalization we have for staying here.
