Never really understood why airlines insist on "running" to the last possible millisecond with the writing plainly on the wall. It's not like the numbers were a big mystery or the date couldn't have been predicted (plus or minus a day or two).

I think the last time I remember an airline that actually wound down it's operations instead of this nonsense was Aloha back in 2008.
