Also, if its a tiny %, the vast majority of the group doesn't really benefit from it, even the highly over hyped trickle down effect of someone who can upgrade a little sooner, etc.
All pilots are sea lawyers and all of us like a "good deal" even if the vasy majority can't get it consistently by design. It just feels good in concept. Like we're getting ours from the man.
As for the OE trip droppers, I say keep it but make dropped days with full pay like vacation days. No pick up on top. That will give the very few their unlimited paid time off and also use that system to increase pilot staffing, which truly does benefit everyone.
