Stby FBO is a new policy put in place (rather sneakily in my opinion). Not sure if its because of some incident, marketing or both. It probably wouldn't be so bad but they have been scheduling it 12-14 hours a whack. I suppose you can go home if all is fair as long as you are "wheels up within an hour." Some guys aren't so lucky. Before all this if there was was no trip you were put on stby at home with a 2 hour call out and wheels up in 3 hours which life was good. Stby FBO to some degree always existed if necessary, but mostly for MX reasons, and/or other circumstances but even then you were generally cut loose when all was clear and good. Now it seems you gotta pry after 10hrs. This has been taking place at pilot home bases. So if you like staring at an airplane, that probably wont fly, for 12-14hrs at your home base when you don't have a trip...... this is the job, for you. Airshares stance on that it is "for pop ups." and that it supposedly has helped bail out trips (I'm guessing few and far between comparatively) but I digress. Still not the worst place to work, not a bad road to a major even, I'd say QOL used to be better, probably still better than a regional but that gap seems to be narrowing, and is putting the company more in the same realm of Flex Jets, and NetJets where in all honesty there is probably better pay and bigger equipment. That said, QOL used to be a reason to stay with Airshare and not work for the others. As for the Regional vs. Airshare question still depends on your goals of course, your lifestyle, and where you want to be in x amount of years. I'd say you're gonna get 4-500 hours a year with Airshare average as FTWGearJockey already stated.
