RDU-EWR is currently all mainline and 76 seaters for UAL. I don’t think it would make too much sense to change to an inferior product like the CRJ-550, especially in a growing market like RDU. Also GoJet tried to staff Delta NYC flying from RDU and it did not work well for them at all.
I'm not going to speculate on what exactly is going to happen to DEN as far as G7 is concerned, but the product isn't inferior in the eyes of United. They're the ones contracting the flying to GoJet, it must have a certain amount of value to them. The east coast market seems to make sense, you can feed passengers from new markets into one of the largest international markets, which is where the $$$ is.
