Default DEN future?

I’ve seen speculation that GoJet will likely be asked to depart from DEN as CRJ-550’s come on line, with the expectation that UA will base the 550’s in EWR & ORD, leading to the establishment of an EWR base for GoJet that would replace DEN. Is this widely perceived as inevitable? Seems like UA could just as easily choose to employ the 550’s to feed their DEN hub.

I’m about positive Mesa is opening a Denver base in early fall for United. They’re taking half of their 700’s from Dulles to Denver and filling to void in Dulles with some 175’s from Houston for the long haul routes. Of course the Atlanta base last spring was supposedly a done deal and it never happened so take that with a grain of salt.

RDU-EWR is currently all mainline and 76 seaters for UAL. I don’t think it would make too much sense to change to an inferior product like the CRJ-550, especially in a growing market like RDU. Also GoJet tried to staff Delta NYC flying from RDU and it did not work well for them at all.

I'm not going to speculate on what exactly is going to happen to DEN as far as G7 is concerned, but the product isn't inferior in the eyes of United. They're the ones contracting the flying to GoJet, it must have a certain amount of value to them. The east coast market seems to make sense, you can feed passengers from new markets into one of the largest international markets, which is where the $$$ is.

Two key characters above: first begins with a U, and the other with $

DEN is dead, pretending it isn't is not going to make it live. It is time to bury it before the body starts to smell too much.

Think of it as an upgrade, Newark beats Denver any day of the week. It's closer to the ocean. It's closer to gambling in Atlantic City or Connecticut than Den is to LAS.

Ok, help me out here, I'm hitting a wall. What are some great things about being based in Newark?

Beautiful sunsets. The oranges and pinks are wicked nice due to all of the air pollution.

The gambling example doesn't work because after a great day of skiing you can gamble all you want in Central City or Black Hawk just 34 miles outside of Denver.

You can still use the ocean example though. Ahhh the smell of the beach in Newark!

Did you mean "smell", or stench?
