If there is only one, then you are probably using it as a "paper backup" for your actual commute as commute policies tend to require two flights. This is unless you leave early enough that a two leg can count as your backup. I commuted many years transcon two leg, but it's a tough one and the biggest advantage there is making sure you never are "comfortable" at the regional.
