Hot reserve is indeed a big deal even if you live in base. 8 hour stretch for 3 days in a row is a huge hit to QOL. I get used maybe 1 out of 5 times on HRV and most of the times I get used, they assign me a flight 3-4 hours in advance because they are out of SCRs. If you do come to PSA, expect to be on reserve for at least 7-12 months after training and then if you do upgrade at 1000 hours, expect another 2 years on reserve as a CA.
But that being said, living in base makes reserve slightly more tolerable. The pay is alright and overall things seem to be headed in the right direction.
That does seem like a huge waste of time(hot reserve).. and 2 yr reserve CA, wonder how republic compares ?
