I am a 500TT CFI and 19 years old, living in the Greensboro, NC area. I have been in the Pilot Prep Program since Sep. 2018 and really (really) like Republic...
I recently had an opportunity to interview with PSA for their cadet program as the flight school I work at is a partner. I'm headed up to DAY in a couple weeks to complete my final interview for their Senior Level. PSA just announced their $7,500 bonus to cadets (and if you don't take it now, you just don't get it-- this is completely separate from the sign-on bonus.) So my question is, should I commit right now (being 1.5-2yrs out) for the $7,500? Or, stay in both programs, but eat the $7,500 and see how things look next year around this time?
I feel like it's too early for me to commit, and I really am not sure which of the two I'd go work for. CLT is only an hour away, so living in base with PSA would be a lot easier and makes mores since in terms of that, where as with RPA I would likely re-locate to an outstation base or commute. However, I haven't really heard much negative out of RPA pilots and hear very good things about their contract/QOL.
Thanks for the help!!!
Don’t worry about the $7500. So much will change while you build that 1000 hrs that you will want to make a decision when it comes then not now. If someone offered you a seniority number now I would take that.
