Sure There's a longstanding tradition where nobody will ever question your decision to evacuate. Because we don't want the whole question of:

"Holy crud, I had a missed trip three months ago and I think my chief pilot hates me. If I order an evacuation and it turns out I'm wrong, am I going to be fired?"

...to ever be part of one of our pilot's decision making calculus. Perhaps "freebie" isn't the best adjective. But flight ops management will approach an evacuation after the fact with a very careful and reasoned response that doesn't include you losing your job.

That's not to say any of us wouldn't be extremely careful about evaluating the conditions correctly when making an assessment about whether it's safer to be inside or outside the jet. But nobody you work for will second guess your decision.

Your peers are a whole different matter, as evidenced by just about everything on this message board.
