I tell ya what, in this Navy pilots opinion, I think the C-17 looks awesome. I'm a transport guy as well and comparing what I flew in the fleet to the C-17, maybe thats why I like the look of the 'Moose' or whatever the 17 drivers call it.
I was in Bahrain a few years back and we were parked next to a C-2. I hopped in the seat of the C-2 and felt like I went back 30 years in time. Hats off to you guys for finding the ship and the 3 wire on a dark night with the technology you have (or don't have
