Back in 99 we had to go pick up a sailor at Travis, emergency leave. So we park, shut down and wait. Finally a big C-17 shows up and parks next to us. I eventually get a chance to inside, go up to the cockpit. Amazing. So one of the pilots asks if he can see our cockpit. Sure but I ask him if he's ever seen one of those WWII movies with views of the bomber cockpit. He seemed confused but once inside the COD's front office...he understood. I still remember his words...."ohh"....and that was all
Landing at night on the boat (I was a part of VRC-30 and VAW-120) when we did that was never a good time in the COD. Thankfully it eventually went away.
