Nine exemptions should keep you from paying any income tax during the year. The only problem is, you will OWE at the end of the year, (unless you actually have 8 dependents). The idea of not paying during the year is good if you can invest the money that would be going to the Government every pay check. When you pay your taxes at the end of the year you'd be money ahead, if your investments made any money. I prefer to get somewhat of a return in April. Zero would take the maximum amount out of your paycheck during the year, and you would get the biggest return. Paying big bucks for a specialized accountant is NOT worth the money, unless you have a lot of complicated exemptions(businesses, investment property etc.) Otherwise, save the money and have a run of the mill tax preparer do it.
