That hasn’t changed much at AA. Granted, outside of being military or a flow you have almost no chance of getting hired here. It’s not actually the republic guys fault though. I’ve met a few great guys over there. Their problem is most of their guys are likely young and know nothing about the industry yet so they blindly follow the Teamsters and it’s merry band of window lickers who are trying to disrupt the status quo with an opponent 20+ times their size. Anyone who has half a brain knows this was driven by their union (why else would the union and not the company inform the gate agents of a change to FOM policy), and of course management “supports” the pilots on this. Why wouldn’t they? It is a no cost item to the company and shows support for the pilots which maintains balance and trust. Would/will they continue to support the pilot group if AA turns on pressure or if this began affecting the bottom line somehow, probably not.
