A 550 flying into Aspen is going to have 10 people willing to pay for 1st class. A 550 flying into Evansville, not so much.
The major airlines use a hub a spoke system which means most of the passengers connected into the hub from a spoke on an aircraft that probability wise offered a first class ticket. Said first class passenger will now have first class throughout their travel experience. The lack of first class is the reason a different airline has said they want to end the 50 seater.
O&D hub traffic to EVV already gets a premium for economy.
