You obviously get stuck working into a day off, but you get paid 4:12 min day. You’d either be deadheaded back to base that day or most guys would just jumpseat home on the first flight out. The only caveat is that we do have some clause somewhere in our contract about not “abandoning” an airplane. I’ve only heard of it being used to force crew members to stick around and repo the airplane on a very few occasions.
