Yup.
And just to add to the mess, currently many of the ORD gates can only park RJs because more gates were crammed into the existing concourses during the RJ boom.
Although the expansion will only initially add 25% more gates total, the % of gates usable by mainline will increase dramatically. It seems clear that UAL’s long term plan includes an increase in the gauge of aircraft in ORD and the key to doing it is the expansion.
