I hear the current debate in the training department is the 25 hours versus 50 hour MEL time requirement. If you qualify for the restricted ATP you only need 25 hours. If you have the mins for a normal ATP then the dept wants a 50 hour MEL minimum. If you meet the requirements for either the restricted or normal ATP, ie military pilot with >1500tt, they are not too sure which minimums apply. Does someone come in on the restricted ATP side or do we make them pay for the extra 25 hours of light piston twin time? The struggle is real.
If you qualify for the ratp (750/1000/1250) you can go in with only 25hrs multi. They will get you the remaining in the sims during indoc and atp-ctp. If you're a 1500hr then you need 50, but you can use the flight time initiative program to pay for the remaining. That's 50 before indoc.. So you can stop at 44hrs and get the 6 in atp class.
