The company is seeking compensation for the same reason. The company says they may share the settlement with the employees. I think SWAPAs position is that you cannot take that promise to the bank so they are seeking to ensure their share of the pie.
Whether you agree with it or not, it’s what a union should be doing in order to serve its pilots.
Is there anywhere that says SWAPA will distribute any funds to the pilots? If they do, after they deduct legal expenses, dues they would’ve gotten from said money, what will be left? And if there is any left, are they going to double dip and take dues money out of the settlement checks after they already took dues money out from the money they get from the lawsuit?
