That's because of the MAX groundings, Delta was in a position of not only not having aircraft grounded but also being able to increase ASMs by delaying scheduled aircraft retirements but was also limited to not having planned on that in advance so there were only so many crews available. Once the MAX is back in the air there will a lot of capacity returning in relatively short order with the other airlines looking to get market share back while Delta tries to hold onto the gains.
