I'm actually an advocate of TARGETED education assistance for those in need. If you're willing to compete a degree in a subject which will benefit the country (ie in demand by the economy), and do it within a specific timeline, and to a certain standard of completion then I'm good with full rides and even room and board assistance.
But for those who just want to do a degree that will allow them to party for 5-6 years while stalling their entry into the work force at public expense... No thanks, not on my dime. I actually need my house more than those people need an all expenses paid vacation to recover from HS before hitting the real world.
