That's interesting because right before the merger NWA had more terminations per year than Delta (according to management) and Delta was twice the size. Seems like a written contract would actually get rid of the bad ones instead of all the gray area that currently exists where who you know means more then common sense.
Since we are hypothesizing....the reason could also be that the ones with a contract(NWA) had a much worse attitude, manifesting itself in poor customer service/attendance....resulting in more "discipline".
Another possibility is that FA mgt was less accommodating to life's nuances and in the "game of 'a contract is a contract' " used discipline as a means of fear and intimidation to keep the "rule of law".....in other words...just another pizzing contest pitting one side against the other resulting in more of a hostile work environment
Hmmm....could be one, some or all of the mentioned reasons or something not mentioned yet
