It does open flexibility for an originating base with IROPs when you have reserves that do not need to DH to save a a flight due to WX or whatever else.
I don’t disagree with the ability to just open and close on a whim. So why not add provisions similar to a permanent base for relocation. If they want it that bad they should be willing to accept that.
Are we concerned we won’t have a crew room to sleep in uncomfortable chairs and print out our rotations? I’ve been in a company that had virtual bases and it didn’t seem to be the devil being made out here.
If there were restrictions on the ability to close/open a VB on a month to month basis(in other words making them semi-permanent), I might be convinced. I don’t know what those restrictions would be.
