Maybe that’s just how the pilot group was where you were at? I was at SkyWest, and many of the people I flew with had FedEx as a top choice. Flying UEX stuff has a tendency to make one hate everything about passenger carriers.
I spent many hours in skywest jumpseats. My experience with them was about the same but not quite as disproportionate, like you say.
As for where I was, XJT, at first many didn’t ever want to work for CAL/UAL. But once we saw that it was the same everywhere else (DAL, AAL, Jetblue, frontier, midway), pilots just realized it’s just the way it is. Each system has its issues but all entirely a different animal than cargo, perceptually in a not as good of a way.
