Professionalism is how we treat our coworkers and our customers, and the level of safety and skill we put into our flights, not how nice we are to the company. I harbor no ill will either way on this one. There are good reasons to vote yes and good reasons to vote no, and I can respect the decisions and thought that each pilot puts into their vote, but I can’t respect someone who implies voting no means you’re some kind of entitled ingrate, or someone that implies voting yes makes you some kind of traitor.

This is a business, we don’t work for free and it’s not entitlement to attempt to wring every last penny on the table out of negotiations. I don’t care if you worked here 1 year or 30. The most junior FO is just as valuable to the company’s ability to make money as the 5 year FO. The company is going to try the exact same thing (as is their right and obligation!).

Either way, I’d rather the angry people stay. I like being able to pack for four days instead of six. Maybe you weren’t here when we were massively understaffed or maybe you forgot what it was like, but I’d take flying with someone disgruntled over never knowing when I get to go home.
