IAD seems to have more movement than somewhere like DEN or IAH. If you can’t sleep on a plane, long haul will kill you. If you don’t like the 777, you could always upgrade to NB captain, but reserve on that isn’t any fun either. If I was in your place (only because you said that you have trouble sleeping on planes), I’d wait until I was above the g-line for NB captain before bidding the 777. If you don’t like it, you can upgrade into a line. Even if it isn’t your cup of tea, WB reserve in base would be great. I’d rather suck it up and fly one double red eye South America trip per month on reserve rather than fly a line as a NB captain, but that’s just me. I’m not here to fly airplanes or be concerned about which seat I occupy, I’m here for maximum pay vs minimum effort.
