I pick up some stuff when it works out in my advantage. But otherwise the math very much works out based on average hours I credit for the year based on my current captain pay rate. And I'm not maxed out on the pay scale either. This year if I factor 1.5% October plus longevity plus 2% multiplied by average credit it's $6800. The following year if I happen to still be here, which is unlikely, it would be pretty close to the same. I also should look into how much I'd gain with the NOM gone. It's probably worth an easy 1k a year as well. My pay stubs don't lie so you may as well give it up.
