Got the full answer back finally from DEN Training Center.

The short course to CAP is only on the 320 and 737. The FO must have at least 1000 hours on the A/C and current in the seat. If prospective CAP wants the long course, they can request and talk to Fleet Management first, but it's not automatic by request.

The order of training may be affected by the short course, since Staffing plays the biggest factor in it.
