There's a large counter-culture of ski bums and outdoor fun hogs in Northen Utah, you can mostly ignore the religious culture, aside from some minor annoyances (keep well-stocked with booze in case the store is closed). The silver lining is they don't let bums and criminals run amuck so it's a nice place to live.

Once even met a mormon couple who was looking to do a little light swinging, specifically for wifey... a single cleancut airline pilot/military officer who was NOT in the church was exactly what she was looking for
