You are doing it to not do a double commute, and Expressjet doesn't offer Commuter Hotels. It is a safety and financial decision. That should resolve their questions.
Again I get what you are saying. But to an HR person sitting across from you that still won’t hold up. Bases open and close. You sound like you would only be a happy employee if you have a certain base. Its your responsibility to commute in a safe and rested manner. You not wanting to spend a little cash on a hotel is no excuse to jeopardize safety.
There is no winning argument here in that setting. They are preloaded to turn you down if you express any lack of desire to commute or relocate. Those are your two options from their point of view. Obviously changing companies is an option, just one that will get you a TBNT. Again, showing up not rested is not an option and it’s on you to make that happen.
