Was waiting for that. The crew meal is not out the entire flight. While it does have some weight behind it, the water bottle doesn't have the semi sharp edges as the metal clip and is not out in the open like the clipboard. The phone is another can of worms that I'm not going to get into. Can't argue with the Joe's international clipboard being out in the open. Especially when it's resting eye level above the MCP.
The main reason I don't like it is because it's a huge PITA. When I want to look at something, I've got to rifle through the stack and open the clip. Reversing the process when done is adding insult to injury. There's enough blank space on the console to set the few papers.....we actually need. Throw them away when you don't need them anymore. Why guys feel they need to carry the service sheet, TODM, departure atis, etc the entire flight is beyond me.
Also, why do some take all the NECESSARY paperwork and clip it to their yoke or hide it on their side of the cockpit? One shouldn't have to continually ask for something or strain their eyes across the cockpit for information.
