Only looking at income tax way undercuts the cost of living comparisons of living in CA. Gas prices, energy costs, the 2% “pay the healthcare of our workers” tax, sales tax, melo ruse tax...need I go on?
That being said, the weather is great, and we make enough to fork out what it costs to live there if that’s what you like. Personally, I escaped 20 years ago and will never fly the bear.
