Anywhere along the PA/NJ border (on the PA side), from Bucks County in the South, to the Poconos (East Stroudsburg) in the North, is about 1 hour drive from EWR. I'm up in Poconos and have about 1 hour drive to EWR and 1:20 to LGA. Housing is cheap, state taxes are very low, and people tend to just leave you alone in PA.
