The easiest way is to be the chief pilot's son. If you are not or you are not related to anyone important in the company:
1. Intern
2. Work for CAL (ramp, mechanic, flight attendant) I've seen pilots come from any of these positions.
3. Know someone important: any chief, assistant chief, CAL instructor, exec. etc. that can recommend you and walk your stuff into the right people.
4. Network- get to know as many CAL pilots as you can. They can recommend you. Fly with CAL pilots- the recommendation form asks us if we've flown with you and witnessed your abilities as a pilot. Try getting your ratings with a CAL pilot who flight instructs. Who better to recommend you than your instructor who is a CAL pilot?
5. Get the experience that CAL wants. See website for details on total time, PIC time, etc. Continental Express is a good way to get some experience and CAL likes Express pilots.

CAL is still hiring 16 per week.

Go Pats! I used to live in Warwick, RI and I'm still a Pats fan.
