I think this is a very rare circumstance, and hard to believe as well. At AE there arent any flowbacks who would rather stay at AE than go back to AA. I would expect 99.9% of all ex-regional pilots are glad they made the move to the majors and dont regret the change.

Yep, he's right. I was there too through all that. And I thank God every day that I am not there now. apa hates Eagle's guts. It could, however be argued that ALPA does too-what with the 16 year pay indexed, no strike, NO-THRU contract.

What a JOKE!

I wouldn't live near any major airport. What's wrong with being a EWR 737 reserve Captain? Twelve days off minimum and $150/hour with 76 hour min pay (that's $11,400/month). Three or nine hour call reserve. I've never flown over 50 hours on reserve at CAL and had many months with less than 5 hours. Is reserve better at the regionals? There are no 2 year Captain's at CAL. There are a few at about 3 years (except for the chief's son, he's closer to 2). I'm a former regional pilot, so I've seen both sides. CAL is 1000% better than any regional.
Since I was an infant, I have always dreamed of a job with CAL one day. Any advice on how I can improve my chances of getting looked at and considered for hiring?

The easiest way is to be the chief pilot's son. If you are not or you are not related to anyone important in the company:
1. Intern
2. Work for CAL (ramp, mechanic, flight attendant) I've seen pilots come from any of these positions.
3. Know someone important: any chief, assistant chief, CAL instructor, exec. etc. that can recommend you and walk your stuff into the right people.
4. Network- get to know as many CAL pilots as you can. They can recommend you. Fly with CAL pilots- the recommendation form asks us if we've flown with you and witnessed your abilities as a pilot. Try getting your ratings with a CAL pilot who flight instructs. Who better to recommend you than your instructor who is a CAL pilot?
5. Get the experience that CAL wants. See website for details on total time, PIC time, etc. Continental Express is a good way to get some experience and CAL likes Express pilots.

CAL is still hiring 16 per week.

Go Pats! I used to live in Warwick, RI and I'm still a Pats fan.

I wish I could. I was kicking myself for not having my camera with me.

Heres an old pic from 2005, as you can see AE has been for sale for a long time!
