As for the PA announcements, most frequent flyers want to hear as few PA announcements as possible. As a commuter, I talk to more than a few frequent flyers and we're in agreement that we hate extraneous PA announcements. So no, the first class pax don't want to hear the flight time, gate number, temperature, winds, cloud cover, etc - if they want that information, they know how to use their cell phone. And please, NO calling out landmarks at 35K feet - they're just specks on the ground anyway. The once/twice a year flyer may be enamored by a bunch of PA announcements but frequent flyers just want us to get them to their destination safely and as close to on time as possible.
These days even the infrequent fliers have gotten a bit jaded about the announcements I think. After the drill they went through to just get to airport, their gate and their seat, the bloom is long off the rose. Still, if you are saying thankyousolong to them after, they do seem to get more pleasant the further back they were seated.
