It is an isolated incident. That guy is 2.5 years from being the bottom guy on any other CA status. He's making good money, but he'll be working every weekend and holiday out of New York for the next few years.
It's not really huge news. Delta had junior CAs less than a year on property for a while flying the Mad Dog out of NY. 6000+ pilots chose to be FO's on other equipment rather than be on that status.
This is what I assumed was happening, so really not a valid argument as of now. I guess if this continues throughout the year it may be noteworthy.
