In order to return to your prior category you have to bust the training. You will be pink slipped and put in the special tracking program plus draw FAA attention on your requal on the old equipment. Then you get recurrent in 6 months. There once was a gentleman’s agreement where you could quietly go back to your old equipment if the fleet CA approved. I doubt that will be happening anymore.
