Or maybe the last set of eyes to approve it is on vacation.

I am a new hire starting class soon so I dont have the ability to fact check this myself. I was told by a friend that when a new category in a base opens, anyone can bid it regardless of seat lock. For example: The proposed BOS320 base opens in the next AE, I can bid and be awarded this if my seniority can hold it although my new hire assignment was NYC717 and a year hasn't passed? Doesn't sound right to me but what do I know?! Thanks for the responses.

That is correct. When a new catagory opens, all seat locks are disregarded for bidding that catagory, or a couple bids, depending on timing. I can’t remember if your current seat lock is added to the new seat lock or not.

Our guys having it in their hands and going through it to make sure it follows our rules is a 1000 times more important than it coming out a couple days early.

It is not. If you require a full IQ you will only incur a new 24 month seat freeze which starts on the date of the AE award.

I have NYC 220A and 717A in there. In reality I'm probably staying on the ER in the right seat. Just hoping to move off the bottom.

I had thought of going to 73 or 320 in NYC but the commutabilty sucks, even at 40%

CX I'm a NYC 7ERB too. A bit more senior than you but I'm doing the same. Bid in for NYC 220A. I came in to NYC 7ERB at ~70%. Been moving backwards ever since. Little to no new hire fills and the fact as you mentioned lots of folks in the junior side have departed for ATL, DTW and LAX on the 7ER.

I got beat up over last summer. All domestic. Lots of clock flipping back side/upside down all over the time spectrum trips I couldn't drop or swap due to coverage. So figured if I'm gonna get beat up again, might as well make some $$$ doing it. Plus I am looking forward to the CA upgrade. I think I'm ready and would be stoked if I got it. If I don't, so be it. The 757 ain't a bad office to be stuck in for another summer. I did 88s for a few years so I know what its like to sweat.

Good luck to you.

Thanks. I came in at 95 or so due to a delay in training, wife had emergency surgery a week after indoc, so I took forever to complete OE.

Got to about 88, just due to new hires under me, then the slide back began. Currently 97-98% depending on how you round.
