The compensation and benefits is not worth the trade offs for me and my family living in the SDF area. That’s us. YMMV. Boiler has quality couterarguments. Here’s my main reasons for staying away:
First off is schools. Kentucky and surrounding areas just ain’t exactly a bastion for competitively good education. A possible exception or two noted depending on your circumstances but it’s problematic, expensive, and a big reason many don’t choose to move to sdf. Just the facts, not being a hater.
The value of being close to family when you have young kids.
Louisville is a small college town and you’re kind of in in the middle of nowhere. Culturally it’s tied to the Deep South so if that’s not your thang be cautious.
And so on...
Look, a big reason to come to UPS is that you can live anywhere, be that where you’re from, or where your family and friends are. You will make some trades offs to have that privilage and one of them is the suck of being junior especially in light of our new “optimized,” schedules. Long term, big picture: live where you want.
