Mesa made the deal better for UA by footing the bill for the airplanes in order to secure a long contract on the flying. If that deal hadn’t been made, those 20 airplanes would be headed to XJT.

It is plainly obvious they did not start the XJT 175 program for just 25 tails, otherwise we’d be keeping those airplanes. People who can’t see that the regionals are under the table fighting each other for scraps that the legacies drop from their table are misguided.
