Quote: Remember it would cost AA money to cancel our contract before 2021. With Waterski they just elected to not renew their contract. Now if AA invokes force majeure (a term we all should familiarize ourselves with) then it becomes a different story. The longer this drags out the reality is this will be bad news for the wholly owned airlines more so then the SkyWests and Republics of the world.
All it takes is for the cost to break the contract to be less than the cost of continuing to operate empty flights and they'll do it immediately. I honestly expect it to be announced by next week. I haven't seen any big announcement letter from AA like I have for DL though. Anyone seen anything on their concrete plans to reduce their capacity?
