Job Market
There will always be jobs for pilots, don't worry about that. All that really matters is what you are willing to work for. Forget your romantic notions about flying, it is a job. Also, you have the opportunity to lose your job each and every checkride (at an airline). Like someone suggested, get an intro flight, if you positively cannot stay on the ground, go fly. Personally, I would suggest buying a plane and drilling holes, that is the fun part of flying. Visiting different airports and "seeing the world" is a misnomer, all you see is a hotel and airport terminal. Only fly if you love it, you won't make any money at it.
