Did ALPA National impose the TA upon the ALK group? Not sure how that could work since ALPA is actually just an association, and not truly a union.

This is correct in principle but I am aware anecdotally of a couple instances where National exercised some influence on regional contracts (one at mesa where National refused to sign it, don't recall the circumstances that gave National a vote on that, but I'm sure some mesa alumns do). Not saying the influence was a bad thing in those cases.
