I guess I didn't understand the part where ALPA National "rammed down" a contract, because I was under the impression that the local MEC had to approve (maybe even with a memrat) before a contract can be imposed.

I did hear of at least one time where ALPA national refused to sign a contract (a regional, because they thought it was egregious) not because they were trying to force any pilots to work under lesser terms.

Best of luck to us all, but we will only get what our local reps (along with the assistance of ALPA National) are able to negotiate with our individual mgmts. They seem to provide perspective and allow sharing of industry knowledge so those local MEC's so they are negotiating from a place of knowledge vs hyperbole.
